Neutrals

Neutrals

Works Cited
dress: loft
gray tee: old navy
sweater: thrifted
belt: j crew
gray flats: urban outfitters
trench: old navy

After so many bright colors this week, I retreated to the comfort and beauty of neutrals for teaching. All I wanted this morning was soft dove-like colors, so I went for a pale gray tee layered under my blue-gray dress, with gray flats.

Neutrals

I've realized the hole in my closet for a few cardigans--I badly need some light-colored, well-fitted cotton sweaters for summer (this one bags and sags too much).

The finishing neutral touch was throwing my khaki trench coat with my big purpley-gray flower pin on top of it all. As much as I've had fun with bright yellow and stripes this week, it was a relief to feel chic, put together, and sophisticated today. P.S. This last picture is in my office at school! I love the exposed brick walls (this one is right next to my desk!).

I love it! I am more of a neutrals girl than a colors girl obvi so I'm in love with this ensemble! I think the purple flower is a great way to add a little bit more color. Hope your teaching went well today! Have a good weekend!

You speak, I mean write and pose in a different way when you're wearing neutral colors. It seems that you are felling safer than when you dress youself up with colors :) I love felling safe about my outfit. Every little thing in its place - that sounds great!

Have a splendid weekend!

"Dove like colors" is the PERFECT descriptor for this outfit. You look so calm and classy. I love!

Now I am frustrated - I was BIDDING on that exact same dress on ebay a few days ago and lost out on it. I decided it wasn't a big deal, but now I see it on you in person and really like it!!!

I'm really liking the simple colors here. Also, I quite love the flower on your trench! It's also very fitting with the title of your blog that you say 'Works Cited'! So clever. I really like your blog!

very fun neutrals... and neutrals aren't usually even "fun!" this is such a comfy cozy coffee shop kind of outfit. the trench kicks it up to nighttime, i think. :)

Your cardigan honestly doesn't look like it sags that much. I'd call it "flowy" :) The belt helps make it look nice and fitted. It's actually a good contrast!

Every spring in this cold Midwestern climate I have a freakout moment when I realize that the wonderfully warm sweaters that helped me through the long winter are now TOO warm. I like the 3/4 sleeve cardigans at Target as a bit of a solution.

I love that flower pin! And your hair looks really good up like that.

"Dove-like colors" - what a pretty description. The trench looks great, nice to see that it's from Old Navy (and therefore affordable).

You always do neutrals so well. Looking very effortlessly chic here!

Lovely! And I really like this shorter length trench – I finally got myself a "classic" trench only to realize that it is too long to wear with shorter skirts and dresses. Without a little bit of hem peeking out past the trench, I feel like I look like a flasher!
