Mix 'em Up

Mix 'em Up

Works Cited
black pants: gap
stripey tee: h&m
teal sweater: banana republic
scarf: thrifted
black flats: steve madden

To be honest, I'm not crazy about today's outfit. I was set on the black pants and the stripes but felt a writer's block about what else to put with it. I wanted to add a little excitement, so I settled on some easy pattern mixing--this blue and white floral scarf, which I love.

Mix 'em Up

I'm still not sure what I think of it all. Something is missing--some bangles? Big earrings? Bright shoes? What do you think?

I actually really like the outfit. Instead of bright shoes or bangles you could try heels or sandals to break it up.

I think it's okay - my style - but you could use some bright jewlery :)

I'm pretty sure I wore nearly the same exact outfit a couple weeks ago. Haha, I even have the same exact h&m shirt. So, I must say that I like it. It's a great, non-fussy look.

You look great! Some colorful shoes would probably help it to pop overall, though. Right now it's a little too business-on-the-bottom, party-on-the-top for me.

I like it. Simple, chic. Perhaps switching up the black shoes to another ballet flat would work, too. Nude would be a great Audrey Hepburn look.

first off, i totally heart this outfit, but i think maybe red shoes, red lips and red scarf! :)

I think a pair of colorful wedges would do the trick. Make sure they are strappy!

I like it just as it is. Totally easy elegance.

HOnestly, I think it looks fine the way it is! If you did want to change something, I would consider adding another color. You seem to have blue stripes with a blue cardigan and blue/white scarf. But then again it's kind of nice that they're similar!

The weather there looks sooo nice. I love the trees in the back. Utah is a desert so there isn't a lot of green here. A lot of brown, yes... :(

Oooh, I second the red suggestion: red shoes & red lips!

I like it. Maybe yellow shoes?

Definitely those Steve Maddens in the deep red I saw them in the other day at DSW!

On a related note, you look so cute in those shoes and I was excited to try them on in the store - until I saw how bad they look on my feet :-( Lucky you they're adorable on you :D

@GF: how right you are!
@lumikha and breanne: yes, red would have been the perfect touch!!
i wish i could keep you all on call in the early morning hours!

i actually love the outfit as is. the blues are so pretty and it looks fresh.

I really like to outfit too! I do agree with changing the color of the flats with a bright color to give it a little punch, but I wouldn't change anything else.

I like this outfit too. What about a longer necklace to break up the stripes a little? Maybe something red.

I wouldn't change anything! You don't want to distract from the perfect length of the pants and the cute long striped tee with shorter cardigan - I think the proportions keep it interesting!

I think I might have gone with a brighter shoe, but this outfit is chic and classic, as it is.

I think the outfit is perfectly simple but if you wanted to add something more I would suggest red shoes. That way it looks more bold but the outfit works as it is.

I really like this outfit -- the pattern mixing and colors are great :)

Y'know, I actually kind of love the simplicity of this. The pattern mixing is perfect while still being subtle. I love it!

I also like it the way it is. I love the way you mix scarves with your outfits. They always look effortless and classic!

I'd love to see yellow or fuschia shoes!

I suggest a bright coloured belt (red, yellow, orange) and matching shoes...or a spectacular purse, or handbag...

Personally, I think this looks great. But if you want to change things up, maybe add a colorful belt or bag or shoe?

I love this! So comfy and cute :) If I'd change anything, I'd say definitely add a bit of yellow :)

I like the idea of a yellow shoe.

i am so in love with the pairing of the stripes with that scarf! and hmm, as for the "something missing" i'd say maybe change up the shoes! some wedges maybe? :)

I'd go for nude flats and maybe a darker orange scarf.

Aw well I love it! Such great pattern mixing and black pants/flats always look chic in my mind. Bright shoes could certainly be fun, but I think you rocked it without 'em.

I really like the outfit, especially the scarf. Maybe just add some earrings to really make it pop.

jesse.anne.o said...

I really like it as-is! If I were wearing it I might do a red pin on the cardigan but really - I think it looks great as-is!

Lisa said...

I think you look great! If you want more color/impact maybe a bright scarf?

MissKellie said...

I actually really like this outfit! :D I'm not sure how I would change it... maybe a bright teal handbag? I don't know. But I think it's super-cute just how it is! :)

P.S. I'm giving away a dress on my blog if you'd like to enter! ;D

I think the pattern mix is enough. This is very classic chic!

Perhaps embellished ballerina flats? But I love the outfit anyway - the combination of stripes and that gorgeous blue and the scarf is wonderful.
May I ask a random question? How tall are you? I ask, because I'm really petite, and don't know if I can really pull off three quarter lengths trousers...they look perfect on you though!

I like it the way it is! Fun pattern mixing.

It's actually a very chic outfit, but I think you're right, something is missing - maybe summery sandals? I think it's the black flats that are throwing me off.
