My darlings, thank you so much for your comments this weekend wishing me good luck on the big lecture I had to give today! Christopher took these (nervous looking) pictures just minutes before I had to speak, but I had nothing to be nervous for--the lecture went extremely well! Who knew that having a captive audience while you speak about your favorite author could be so invigorating? Special thanks to Rad in Brooklyn, who gave terrific advice (it saved me at the end!).

Lecture Ready

I wore my Shabby Apple dress because I feel comfortable and professional in it, but the bright turquoise color makes it kind of fun. Lest my students think modernism is dull, I wanted to wear something bright to remind them that both I and my lecture material can be exciting. Oh, and this is my Virginia Woolf doll. She came with me to the lecture, of course. If you want to see other ways to wear this dress, La Historiadora de Moda has styled it five different but equally terrific ways here. Now that the lecture is over, I feel a great weight lifted from my shoulders! I'm going to enjoy this gorgeous spring day--just look at these tulips growing just down the street!

Hey, glad to hear that it went well (and that my verbose advice was helpful). Honestly, I still overprepare most of the time, because I am scared that I won't have enough to say. You look amazing! Enjoy the beautiful springy day in the midwest.
I bet that you're gonna be an awesome prof someday (if that's what you aspire).
(and many thanks for the shout out)

I like the dress, and the smile you´re bringing on...i dare to suggest however that bright tourquoise might be a better choice for someone with darker skin colour...nevertheless, you look great.

I'm so glad everything went OK! You do such a good job of layering without looking lumpy. I always look decidedly lumpy with more than one layer on.
