This is what I ended up wearing yesterday while I braved chilly spring temperatures. Because I've spent so much of this week playing catch up, I'm thinking of changing the name of this blog to What Would a Nerd Wear Yesterday. What do you think?

It was cold, so I didn't even want to take off my coat when Christopher snapped these. Now that it's warmer, I can't believe how many mornings I posed in the bitter cold this winter wearing only a sweater! I was too chicken to take off my trench yesterday (but I wasn't wearing anything exciting under my coat--gray tee and cardigan).

For the four of you readers who care about bikes, check out my new saddle--random gift from Christopher!

I'm a bike-riding bookworm in DC trying to make better use of a sometimes-vanilla closet. You can read a little more about this blog

Ahh, I *love* that flower pin! It adds so much interest to a basic trench coat- genius!
Flower pin is great - I love the purple color with the khaki. And that saddle is awesome - go Christopher! :-)
Your trench looks lovely, but my favorite piece is definitely the flower pin - it gives the outfit so much style and character.

Adorable! You match your bike! This look is so classic and chic.
Great look and nice bike! Looks vintage to me... My friend has one that looks just like it that's green and ridiculously heavy. But cool looking. That pin is awesome! I would never think to accessorize my trench like that--good idea!

This is so cute! I love the flower pin on the trench and the flat with the cuffed up jeans.
You look so ladylike, doll. And I know just what you mean - I've wimped out now that it's warmed up!
I love this look. The flower pin is the perfect touch. I am currently in search of the perfect bike basket, but a saddle would be nice too!
I didn't realize how chilly it was this morning and I kind of froze on the way to the subway! It has been unseasonable warm in New York the last couple days so I am a little happy that we have a few breezy spring days on the horizon.
Happy Friday!
I love the flower pin! I STILL need to get a trench. I'm so behind on the times...
I love the little corsage...I'm going to pin one to my trench too, I think! I always pin one to my winter coat but now you've inspired me to do some on spring coats too...thank you Tania! Also - I have major bicycle envy!;)
haha i guess i'm one of the bike nerds....that's a brooks b17! what a nice random gift!
my bike is actually in the shop right now getting a whole slew of changes (i'm basically turning my 70's schwinn road bike into an upright commuter), and putting one of those babies on is one of them! i'm so excited, but it's going to take another week or so for the new handlebars to come in, so i won't get to see the results for a little while.
how do you like it? i hear the "breaking in" stint can be a a little rough but once it conforms to your backside, it's like heaven!
oh, and you look super cute! i sometimes feel a little overwhelmed in my trench, but i like the rolled-up jeans and big scarf thing you're doing with it. gonna have to try this look :)
I overlooked your tut tut title honestly but I see it now. Maybe I was too busy loving your floral skirt and rubber rain boot combo :-)
The backdrop today, is that outside of where you work? I am imagining you have a lovely coworker who cooperatively takes your photo every morning. Am I wrong?
You look great -- and that flower pin is so cute!
You look so classy in that trench...and I simply ADORE that flower! Have a great weekend!
I really love the trench coat, and especially how you added the flower pin makes it look very chic.
LOVE the flower pin on the coat! THIS is why I blog, to get super cool ideas I would never have thought of.
Oh and the length of the trench is perfect on you. Great outfit.
Haha, don't change the name of the blog, we can totally understand that you're busy sometimes and you can change the blog routine whenever you want :)
You look fabulous. This pin gave a charming touch to your trench. And i noticed the new saddle on your bike, even tough I don't have one I love bikes. But Alex promised me that as soon as we get the apartment he's going to buy one for me so we can ride in the park :)
Have a wonderful weekend T.

LOVE the flower pin (such a fun, bigger size!) and your scarf.
so cute! I love trenches - they're so classic.

Ah, fun flower on your trench! I can't believe you were riding your bike in the cold spell – I had to pull out my gloves and winter coat to walk my dog the other night!
awesome flower pin, it reminds me of the pins Carrie wore in season three of SATC (or was it season 4?)
thanks for the kind comment!
That flower pin is amazing! It's seriously transforming your whole look. I wish I had picked one up so badly now.
I love that you pinned a gigantic flower to your trench!
haha~ funny! thank you for your share~ ........................................
no idea how people can fashion blog EVERY day. I took a few outfit pics one week and it was too time-consuming and some were blurry anyway. Plus I need those extra minutes for dog-walking, coffee, finding last minute lost items....so, I would just back date things if necessary if you want to really know later on what was what day.
Luv ur outfit! Fab as always! xx
I love the flower pin! So versatile, since you can move it from coat to coat, then to a sweater, etc.
I also just gave you an award...

Aww, this is a really simple but sophisticated look. The flower is the cherry on top. :)
I think cuffed skinny jeans always look cute, and they particularly look great with your trench!
Bingo, Tania! Great look, i love it :)
Brooks! Hot!! Seriously, put a Brooks on a bike and I'm sold.
Kinda like an awesome blue flower on a trench coat :)
I read you through Google Reader and in these pics the 1st thing I noticed was the saddle! Hehe. I also like the way you layer clothes and mix in grad-student chic.
