Willpower Fail

Willpower Fail

Willpower Fail

Works Cited
striped skirt: modcloth
tights: leggs
pink tee: j crew outlet
maryjanes: dansko

Okay, I caved. I bought the pretty striped skirt. And whoa, is it colorful!! I'm not much for super bright colors, but I'm going to rock this today, even if I know it'll get me a look or two.

Willpower Fail

One funny thing I've noticed about blogging is that I'm a lot more courageous about what I wear, and I mind a whole lot less if an outfit doesn't work. I used to get caught up worrying that someone would judge or think something didn't fit right, was too bright, too short, too long, too fashion-y. Now, I don't care nearly as much. I think about getting dressed as something fun and extremely temporary, and I don't let an imperfect outfit get to my head because hey, there's always tomorrow.

P.S. Yes, it was super windy this morning!

I wouldn't call it a fail, it's a great skirt!

LOVE it! I can't wait to see how you style it for warm weather!

I love that skirt and I love that you paired it with neutrals. It would be really easy (and I would probably do it) to pair with BRIGHT matchy-matchy colors, but sometimes that can be really in-your-face.
Nice look!

You didn't fail, you scored big time! I love that skirt (and wanted the dress they had just like it, but they didn't have my size..sad) and you rock it very nicely!!

As said before: i like the colour work, alas the texture is not my cup of tea.
Screw me, you´ll do it anyway, and it´ll be good.

I think blogging has affected me much in the same way. I've always liked clothes, but I think the way I dressed last year was a lot different. I LOVE your new skirt---so colorful and cheery and just plain awesome.

Really pretty skirt, though! I can't wait to see how you keep incorporating it back into your wardrobe!

Totally get what you're saying about the blogging transition. =P I stalk enough people's blogs that I too have noticed how they start breaking out - in good ways. All the ladies of Academichic are very pro at this. - J.

Woah-nelly! That skirt is jaw-droppingly amazeeeng, I love it so much and it's so great on you. And I feel the same way about blogging and fashion-- I try to question myself and worry less when it comes to judging and stares. Hey, staring means you're standing out in a good way, right? I know you are in that skirt!

Love this skirt! I actually saw it (and a matching little halter dress) in a lovely shop in Brooklyn this weekend and knew I had seen it somewhere and couldn't remember where. It was your blog! I would have bought it if I wasn't in a strict embargo on buying anything. Sigh. It looks great!

okay. i don't want this to sound creepy, but i've noticed that you're definitely been coming out of your shell in terms of color! i find that i'm less afraid to make fashion statements because of blogging, too! it's probably because everyone in blog-osphere is so amazingly encouraging and kind. i'm glad you bought the skirt.

That skirt is awesome and I'm glad you had willpower fail in this instant.

Trying out new clothes and combinations is fun and no it does not matter if you get something 'wrong'...it's all just fun.

Hell I was cycling in a short skirt today with bright green brogues and really couldn't give a crap what anyone else thought...though I did protect my modesty with a double layer of tights!

xx:)

I also agree that blogging and other inspirational bloggers like yourself can push a fashionista out of her comfort zone :)

Fun! Interesting to hear how your feelings about getting dressed have changed since blogging. Although I'm not really a style blogger, I am more cognizant of the fact that what I wear reflects who I am, at least to some extent, and therefore I'm more willing to make a statement with my clothes.
