Spring Layers

Start with pants so old you bought them the last time high-waisted pants were in style; add a sweet striped button-up and the maryjanes you've worn the last ten days running.

Spring Layers

Add gray stripes on top of gray stripes.

Spring Layers

Plus a springy trenchcoat and a big cashmere scarf (because hey, it's still a little cold).

Spring Layers

Works Cited
black pants: gap (circa 1998)
button-up: forever 21
belt: j crew
gray sweater: filene's basement
maryjanes: dansko
trench: old navy
scarf: pashmina store online

I love today's outfit! Admittedly vanilla, totally comfortable, and makes me feel pretty and classic and completely like myself. I'm so glad spring seems to be here!

I see a little bit of Audrey Hepburn in that mix, too!

Yeah, you do look pretty! I loved the step-by-step pictures!

Just one question: do your neighbors know you have a fashion blog or do they just think it's normal to see a beautiful and fashion girl taking pictures in the yard?

:P

Kisses, have a great weekend!

This outfit is so cute! I have the hardest time dressing for Spring because I am always cold, but I think this helps with the transition quite nicely. Thank you! :)

timeless look! The cardigan is gorgeous and the trench is just the cherry on top. I've been watching a lot of "The Dick van Dyke Show" reruns lately, and your slacks had me flashing back to Laura's Petrie pants. A clean, elegant look.

I looove that sweater. For some reason sweaters with stripes around the inside edges like that (I have no idea what it's called, the differently-textured fabric that goes around your neck and down the front with the buttons) totally get me every time.

You look clean and fresh as usual. I love the cardi and the trench - it ups the sophistication level a notch.

I love the cardigan and the trench - I keep wanting to get a classic looking trench, but then I buy something yellow and ruffled instead...

Vanilla, perhaps, but it's classic, and classic always works really well.

How-To format is awesome!! Thanks for the tips. Time for me to search my closet for high-waisted pants. I so happily got rid of them last time :(

I like rolling up the pants for faux capris. I'm actually doing that today myself, inspired by your photo.

Great colour combination, but rolling up your pants kind of seems to shorten you optically...
