In an attempt to ward off jetlag, Rachel and I went out exploring in the sunshine on Sunday. I'd already been up for about 20 hours, and I was aiming to make it until the evening to sleep in the hopes that my internal clock would adjust (and so far: success!). My main goal for the day was comfort--we did lots of walking around and I needed comfy shoes and easy layers. You don't often see me in sneakers on this blog, so this is a little different for me. Tigers are easily my favorite sneakers--light, easy, comfortable, and a little retro. And you can't go wrong with stripes.

On Rachel
skirt: handmade (the double to the one I made here)
sweater: j crew
scarf: liberty of london for target
boots: jeremy's in berkeley

This is the second skirt I made out of the extras from the green polka-dotted fabric. I love the little bow at the side and the way Rachel wore it with varying shades of brown. The liberty of london for target scarf (a little housewarming present for my sweet sister) is the perfect touch--the pattern subtly picks up on the skirt.

I'm looking both ways because shortly before this picture was taken, Rachel and I were almost hit by a car zooming down the road--eeps!!! This morning as we were getting dressed and I was piling on gray layer after gray layer, I wondered whether I should really do gray-on-gray-on-gray. Rachel read my mind and said, "Is there any such thing as too much gray?" No, I don't think there is.

On Rachel
jeans: true religion
jacket: recent h&m acquisition (don't you love?)
blue-gray scarf: mine, from camden market
sneakers: converse

With a little persuasion, Rachel bought this rad jacket from h&m--I LOVE it on her, and almost bought one myself (but seeing as I already have a spring coat, I just barely restrained myself). After exploring the British Museum, we did a little shopping on Oxford Street. I don't know what's come over me (maybe the jetlag?) but I bought a pair of leggings, something I never thought I would actually wear. There's something about hordes of chic Londoners zooming around in black leggings and little boots that's making me seriously rethink their coolness.
Whew! Enough for today! More adventures to come soon...

You and your sister are an amazing pair of effortlessly chic ladies in London. Have a wonderful trip!
If you're a foodie, you should visit the Borough market for great produce, breads, chocolates, prepared foods, coffee.
It's by the Southwark Cathedral on the South Bank of the Thames and easily accessible by metro.

Love the blog!
that liberty of london scarf has stolen my heart! You guys look great.
I hope you're loving London! It sounds like you're doing or have already done the favorite things I did when I was there oh so long ago (the British Museum, British Library, Courtauld). And yes, after hanging with all the rockers in Austin, I'm planning on investing in a pair of leggings as well!
Oohh. I didn't know you were in London. Yay. Hope you are enjoying yourself here.
Some other suggestions of places to visit:
-Brick Lane and Spitalfields market...an interesting place with lots of influences from a large Asian community to lots of art student types...East London.
-Richmond...a beautiful in the south west of London by the River Thames. Richmond park is also here...lots of deer roaming around in the park...nice for a picnic or a walk (weather permitting).
-Foyle's Book Shop...on Charringcross Road...nearest tube station...Tottenhamcourt Road on the Central Line (the red line)...the Coffee shop there is awesome and I just love that book shop. Also have free Jazz performances sometimes in the coffee shop.
-Soho...not too far from Foyle's actually...awesome place with lots of places to eat/drink/sit/see.
-A walk down the Regents Canal or the Thames Path...just pretty...and there are lots of places to stop off for a drink...especially along the Thames.
-Kew Gardens...awesome botanical gardens...stunning and you can take the treetop walk too. It's in Kew...not far from Richmond.
Also don't forget to do some bargain hunting and shopping!
How long will you be staying for?
Hope you have a wonderful time here. xx:)
You both look so fabulously stylish! I'm loving these comfy-chic ensembles. Perfect for roaming the London streets.
You and your sis look so casual and chic! It sounds like you're having a great time - thanks for sharing.
I am so jealous you're there, somewhere I have always wanted to visit, and hopefully will son. Have fun, you both look great!
Cute outfits! I was just in London last November and had a great time. I'm planning on moving there in the fall.
I'd recommend taking a spin in the Millennium Wheel. Yeah, it's pretty touristy, but you get a great view of the entire city, especially at night.
Oh T, you and your brudder are so fantastic! I wish I could be there too! Have a great time you too, enjoy it as much as you can!
I'm loving all your outfits, and Rachel's jacket is gorgeous!
;)
Don't forget to buy a little thing to make a giveaway! Hahaha :)
Borough market for a fun morning of food. And a walk down Bond St for a high end fashion fix, or a trip to Harrods and Slone St for the same!
If you are into cool unique museums, try this one... The Sir John Soane Museum

Have fun and travel with your bag/purse closed on the underground! :D
You guys look great! Hope you're having a good time on your trip.
I love your H&M jacket!
Some how I missed the post on you going to London!! I was there last September and enjoyed every moment. If you can, you must check out Portobello Road Market on Saturday, as they have some great shopping for cheap.
Anyways, you both look great!
I'm so envious of your trip! And I love the way both of your wore scarves in your outfits!
It looks like you ladies are having a blast! I think you both managed to stay comfortable (for long days of walking!) while easily dressing very Londonite.

So jealous! Looks like you're having a blast!
I just found your blog, and I'm so glad I found it! I've been slowly working on my grad school wardrobe for a more adult look. You always look so fashionable and put together. Looking forward to more posts!

may you have wonderful weather on your travels
Glad you are having a wonderful time in my hometown, Got to second a lot of the Wooden Typist's suggestions. Have a wander round the southbank too - everything from the Globe to the Tate Modern to the National Theatre, always a lot going on there xx
It is HARD to travel in style and you are pulling it off swimmingly! That picture of you in the trench is my favorite!
Woohoo! London town... you guys look great! I am really digging your sister's pink converse...
You look awesome! Very chic and comfy!
Awww. You are just so cute! Love you and Rachel's photos! Can't wait to see how you rock the leggings!
That's what's so great about traveling- you end up trying things you never would have thought to do at home, like socks with shoes!
Both of you have such great outfits! Have a great time in London!
Wow.. I love the second picture where you're standing by the canal just south of Camden Lock! Did you visit The Engineer or The Landsdown... they're two of my favorite pubs in that part of town. And the walk past Regents park down to Maida Vale is fantastic.
