Lazy Day

Lazy Day

Works Cited
chambray shirt: old navy
gray sweater: h&m (circa 2004)
jeans: j crew outlet
flats: from ireland (ASDA maybe?)
scarf: don't remember

My Thursday class got canceled, and I have an entire day free from campus to do research! Commuting to and fro sucks up a lot of my time and it is a rare luxury to spend an entire day reading and writing. I went pretty plain jane today, but I'm loving the lines of this look--a slightly shrunken sweater layered over my extra-long chambray shirt (one of my new favorite pieces...it's so soft and loose I feel like I'm wearing a pajama top). The simple color palette, easy flats, and stretchy jeans are just perfect for a long day of reading Bad Modernisms.

Lazy Day

P.S. Thank you for all the terrific suggestions on black cardigans yesterday. Finding the perfect black cardigan is like the hunt for the holy grail, wouldn't you say?

Oh, I remember that book well...

That looks like the perfect comfy-cozy outfit, and you've given me some inspiration on how to wear my chambray shirt (also from Old Navy, but a men's because of my annoying boobage)!

I love this look - the cropped length of the sweater with the longer chambray makes you look so effortlessly cool! What cute shoes too!

I love it when class is canceled. Sometimes it just feels like everything is moving too fast!

Interesting book. This came out just after I finished grad school, so I haven't had a chance to read it. I feel like modernism got a bad rap and shoved aside too quickly.

I love this look. Futurelint said it right, effortlessly cool. That chambray shirt looks great layered that way. I'm on ON's website right now checking it out.

Also, I'm gonna have to take a gander at Bad Modernisms. I love Woolf and Joyce, and I have been trying to learn more about modernism since doing an intense study on them about a year ago. Thanks!

YES it's like the hunt for the holy grail. I actually lamented about that in a blog post I have set for Monday...my old one faded, I can't revive it, but I can't find a great new one!

this is such an awesome casual look! this is pretty much what i would wear all day every day if i didn't have to go to work. though... sometimes i DO wear this and just switch in any kind of pant that isn't denim. :) chambray is my new fav... i don't know why i haven't owned a shirt before but i am in love with mine. like you said: pajamas!!!

That really is an ideal casual day outfit. I'm also a big fan of sweaters over button ups, the color palette you used is great too. I like when people can create comfortable outfits in creative ways!
