Trading Up

Works Cited:
black turtleneck: anthropologie
gray skirt: trade via ana
magenta (!) tights: we love colors
boots: j crew
striped hat: borrowed from boyfriend

Holy color, my legs are cheerful today! The length of this skirt plus the hue of these tights made me feel like a beacon of color and brightness amid a wash of brown and black around campus. This outfit (okay, mostly the tights) definitely garnered a few stares today, but it was in the good name of bringing color to the doldrums of winter (and holy cow, it's cold today! I would've frozen half to death if not for the last-minute loan of Christopher's striped hat).

Trading Up

The skirt is a recent trade with Ana of Toil & Trouble, to whom I sent a dress from my shop. I love the cut and the cute buttons (and the color, of course)! But I have to admit, it was a little short when I sat down. I know Christopher doesn't mind the length, but I might resign this to the shop after a few more wears and hope it finds a slightly shorter owner.

It looks great on you, way better than on me! I'm sorry to hear it's a bit too short though (I personally think the length looks awesome on you).

Love this! Great skirt and how awesome that it was a trade.

When you tired of it, let me know!!! I love it and I'm only 5'2" so things are hardly ever too short on me.

You look lovely! Those thights look so good on you.

So jealous, you look gorgeous. (ok, I don't know many adjectives in English, so I'm always back to 'pretty, beautiful, cute, gorgeous and awesome', okay? hahaha and they all fit for your persona)

And C.'s hat is really helping, matching with the not-so-long skirt. I just love boyfriends that support our Blogactivities, hahaha. Alex is getting ready to write some posts for me, he writes so well. He's very talented and I am very lucky!

Oh, and I wish I could trade something with you... =/

Have a great Thursday! =)

This looks great---love the new skirt! Definitely think the tights add some cheer to this seriously gloomy weather.

And yeah...Adam's response whenever I deem an item too short: "Well, if you can't actually see your butt I really don't see the problem. You should get it". Hmmmmm.

He he he. It's really a cool look, but I feel you. Being 5'7" myself, there are definitely things out there that look wonderfully appropriate on a woman 3 or 4 inches shorter, but that look kind of scandalous on me.

Love the tights, and there is nothing wrong with the length of the skirt! Since you've got the legs, show them off! :)

LOL, I think the last minute addition of the hat adds the perfect touch of preppiness to the outfit, I love it!

I am constantly tricked by the skirt length fallacy - I have long legs so I am generally pretty picky when it comes to short skirts because I can't risk looking too scandalous, but there are some I think, "Ehh, I just MIGHT be able to pull this off if I wear tights or something" -- until I sit down that is! Bye bye another two inches. Gotta remember to always do the sit down test when buying!

I think it looks good on you too! Look at your hot legs!!!!

Great skirt and I absolutely love the color on your legs! You have really been embracing color lately :)

OOh, thanks for checking out my blog and leaving a comment! Your is great, I thought I remembered seeing it before posted on Elaine's blog. I keep trying to stay awak from the posting of my outfits(even though I love clothes), because it would be more like "what not to wear if your young and hip." Or I would post fake outfits and just edit my face onto the body.
Anyways, where in the Midwest are you? I am originally from St. Louis.
And make sure to go back to my blog and enter my $25 hair accessory giveaway. (Sorry this post got really long!)

I love the magenta tights with the gray, and I also really love the shape of the skirt on you. I don't think it's too short at all!

The outfit looks great. I think the tights keep it from being too scandalous. I like the length, but I can see that it may be a bit border line 'short'.

I love the skirt and tight combo! The mildness of the gray skirt perfectly accents the magenta tights! Or maybe its the other way around :) Either way it looks great on you.

Oh girl, this is so great. The simplicity of the rest of the outfit really lets the tights shine!

Just wanted to thank you once again for commenting on my blog. Anyway, your outfit is cute. I love the skirt, tights, and boots that you're wearing.

Hooray for magenta tights. I agree with everyone else that you the skirt looks great on you--and for me anyway, fall/winter is the time for short skirts paired with fantastic tights. Nice borrow on the hat too. My head is bigger than my husband's I think--if I wear his hats I look like I'm wearing a swim cap! :)

i just found your blog, and i've gotta say- i LOVE your style. usually when i find fashion blogs i just ooh and ahh at individual pieces, but you sure do know how to put together great outfits that i want to wear! (does that make me a nerd?) teehee.
can't wait to read more!

I love that those tights are so opaque. they look almost like leggings which I think makes colored tights look more...saturated/lux, ya know? Basically, you totally rocked the color tights trend.

You're so brave, taking on the magenta tights. ;) I am a color fiend and I still got a little nervous about wearing hot pink tights in public, yesterday.

Your skill at pairing neutrals has been educational for me. I have a tendency to throw colors together like the devil may care but I am working on toning it down now. There is definitely a sophisticated edge to neutrals that I am SO late in discovering... I'm sure my parents/husband/coworkers would thank you!
