I broke out my not-so-oft worn green tights, my blue button-up and my gold locket to match what I could. Sadly, what this ensemble lacks is the centerpiece of hers--that rad striped skirt. If anyone has seen a striped skirt like this, LET ME KNOW! I am dying for one like it...but it might take a few hunts through the goodwill. Even though this copycat rendition is imperfect, it gave me some great ideas about how to wear my green tights, and about matching a heavier-weight button-up with my flouncier skirts. I am enjoying the tail-end of winter, because I know I'll miss my thick tights and wool and millions of layers come spring (even if I won't miss clumsily falling on the ice, a runny nose, and frostbitten fingers).

I love your recreation! And I'll keep an eye out for a stripy wool blanket skirt, promise.
i love that you stepped out of your comfort zone! and even if your inspired outfit doesn't have that awesome skirt, i still like it since it's a totally "you" version of what she's wearing.

Oooh, yeah! This is really cute. I have been dying to purchase this skirt (payday, I love you):

It doesn't quite fit your bill, but it could work in a slightly different way.
emily, thank you for the suggestion!!! i LOVE it!
kinda looks like a pendleton/opening ceremony collab skirt... or something she fashioned from a drug rug, heh.
I agree. It's such a great picture! I may have to find a striped skirt soon too. I love that you snuck in the green tights! I woulodn't have known how to wear them!
Super cute! I love the inspiration look and your interpretation! I really need to get a chambray oxford for spring! The skirt reminds me of Hudson Bay blankets or old Pendletons... perhaps ebay??
I really like this look! Very classic/preppy chic. That's a great belt. I really need to invest in a shirt like that, that's a great thing to have in your wardrobe!

I loved that Sarorialist post too!
You may not have the exact skirt, you may not have the cool hooded coat, or the exact skirt, but I think you captured the vibe of the outfit. The green tights are very cool.
ooo i love the double belt!

That skirt is just lovely! I like your rendition of the outfit - navy, green and pale blue make for a pleasant and calming color combination.
I love your interpretation! What a cute patterned skirt for inspiration.

your take on this look is awesome! the green tights look fabulous... and I bow down to you, the queen of layering up skirts for winter. fabuloso!
I totally favorited this look on my reader, too! The hood/blonde hair reminds me of an old picture of Debbie Harry by Stephanie Chernikowksi.
I think it's a cute outfit (love what you did with your hair!), but maybe you can also consider going nuts with dye on your skirts? Maybe you can find a plain one from Goodwill and test it out. Who knows? it could turn out fabulous. :)

I think copycat-ing is best done when it's done imperfectly. I like how you injected your personal style into it - like the socks over the tights, and the double belting looks great.

I love you're take on it.. it's sorta preppy looking, which I adore.
I love the sartorialist for inspiration, and saw this picture as well and loved her ensemble! Cute way to recreate her look- I would be so lost with green tights.

I have the same tights; they look great with brown and khaki.
You may not have the striped skirt, but I really like what you did with the inspiration! This looks great and the green tights add a awesome color to the mix.
i've to say that the skirt is gorgeous. and your recreation was really fine too, keep us informed on your find!
I love your version as well. The green tights are awesome!
That *is* an amazing skirt. I do like your version though, it's very wearable. I had dark green tights once and got rid of them because I never could figure out how to wear them. It's a tough color, but I think you discovered a great look for them. :)
very nice! love he belt the very best!
I've totally been lusting over that striped skirt as well!!! I think you did a great job reinterpreting this look! I love the belt and the green tights!!
Her skirt is amazing, I think you could have good luck thrifting something similar, I immediately thought of these: http://www.modcloth.com/store/ModCloth/Womens/Shades+of+Summer+Skirt

Love your sweet blog by the way!
I love your green tights~
Your look still works really well, even without the skirt, but I hope you find a stripey skirt of your own!
You did such a great job! This is one of my favorite outfits of yours.

this outfit is super cute!
skirt definitely reminds me of a Pendleton blanket....maybe check the camp lost & found for blankies...
I love your version, but you're right; it would be incredible with that Pendleton-esque skirt. If I ever find it, I'll let you know...unless I decide to keep it for myself! :)
I prefer the way you did it. I love the tights and still can't find them here =/
Best wishes <3
awesome. and i love her coat!
I have to admit, your boots/knee socks/tights/preppy combo inspired me to try this type of look today. I think I went a little too crazy, though, and not enough neutral as you did here. I've got on a tan corduroy skirt, purple tights, pink, purple, black striped socks, and brown boots...with a white sweater over a purple striped shirt. It's almost Mad Hatter-esque.
So anyway, what I'm trying to say is, thanks for the inspiration! The way you use neutrals with pops of color is really something I have to learn!
