Old Faithful

Thank you all so much for your comments yesterday re: to hem or not to hem. The overall response was mixed, but I think it fell barely on the don't hem side. And as Jesse wisely points out, you can always hem, but you can't unhem. So I think I'll take the gray skirt up an inch or two, wear both of them around, and then decide on the red. At least its bright color saves it from being dowdy for now (at least I hope so!). I so much appreciate the suggestions--you all must be the sweetest, most helpful readers around.

Old Faithful

Today, I'm breaking out old faithful again--this AT loft dress I bought for $9 in October and have worn about a million times since (including several that didn't end up on this blog). It is so comfortable, goes with everything, and always makes me feel cute. Today I tried a new pairing, with a complementary muted orange. I love the way these two colors enhance each other, without being too kindergarten (I love me some earthy shades of bright colors!).

I promise you the skirt is NOT dowdy as is!

I love this remix of that dress!

Oh I am so glad you decided not to hem the red skirt... and you are right, you can always hem it at a later time. And I agree the skirt is NOT at all dowdy.

Love this dress! Great remixing!

Loving the color combination! I like gray and orange a lot, but I just realized I never wear it. Hm.

I have a huge bright orange cardigan from about 5 years ago that I never wear because I have no clue what to do with it.

I love how you layer socks with boots... so cute and adds so much interest to the lower half of these outfits! and the dress/shirt/scarf combo is awesome. I gotta try these ideas out!

Perhaps you can give me lessons in wearing of funky belt buckles. Love them on you, but fear wearing them myself!

That rusty orange looks great on you! I didn't comment on the skirt hemming issue yesterday, but I did just want to say that you definitely can unhem, as long as you don't trim the skirt before hemming. If you just fold it up a time or two and blind stitch it in place you can just unstitch it to get it back to the original length with no problem.

I think you fabulous in this outfit. I love how you take something you've been wearing forever and throw in such cheerful colors (your top and scarf) to make it new again. :)

Haha, I am glad I could help.

I love this dress and also that it was $9. Your CPW (cost per wear) must be so fantastically low.
