As a dutiful fashion blogger, I feel it my obligation to report (some) outfits even when I'm not crazy about them. Like this one. I like the top half; I like the bottom half; I don't like the halves together. I wanted a skinny black belt (which I don't own) or some camel-colored boots (which I don't own) or a fitted black sweater (which I don't own). Sigh! It's so difficult planning an outfit around the pieces you don't have. But I figured: everyone has her off days when it comes to getting dressed, and I might as well show you one of mine.

To be honest, it's a not-quite-right morning, too. I'm out of milk, my papers aren't graded, only one of my photos came out looking halfway okay. Let's hope two hours of vigorous discussion on Keats's "Ode on a Grecian Urn" start to turn this day around!

Hey, if any girl looked like that when wearing tops and bottoms supposedly unmatching, earth would be a sweet place for males to wander on...really, you just look great, and i am not able to see you feeling uncomfortable with what you wear.

Apart from that, it´s really hard to put things together with missing items, as you say. As your outfit always shows which mood you´re in, it´s just alright not to score high points all the time.

I like your outfit, I think it works!

I'm amazed that I actually know Ode on a Grecian Urn, I feel educated! LOL

I have those days all the time, expect I don't have the courage to post. But I have to say that I love how you pulled this look together and you look great.

We are our own worst enemies, since we has the individual are the only ones that know the little things that are missing from a look.

Really? Are you kidding? I love this look! I love how the belt is the most subtle tie-in to your hair color. I love how you're kind of corporate and kind of school girl in this outfit. I love that you wore a skirt! CUTE!

Shoot dang I know all about 'off days.' :/ I think that usually fashion bloggers post at least one picture of an outfit that they don't consider too blog-worthy-- but I think it's interesting. But your outfit is cute, much like you're ready to dissect some Keats. :)

I hate it when you plan ahead and then to put the outfit on and it's a big fail. This is actually cute, I like the brown belt with it but I could see your desire for some camel boots...go hit up the last dregs winter sales. I've totally scored and now I can't pay the mortgage (not that bad but you get the point).

I actually really like this outfit... I can understand the shoes being the color of the belt would make it Pop but I really like it anyway, I agree, if this is a bad day, You are lucky!

I think it looks cute on you. Don't you have some brown boots, though? You could have worn the brown boots with it and then it would be even cuter!

but I know what you are talking about when you are having one of "those" days where the outfit just doesn't feel right.

You're definitely not alone in sometimes feeling you missed the mark, but there's nothing wrong with this look. Maybe wearing some of your colored tights could have changed your mood, even if it wasn't the look you were originally going for. At any rate, your silhouette is long, lean, and gorgeous!

I keep on planning amazing outfits around pieces that I have not yet mended or hemmed ... it's so frustrating! I think I have a long day planned with my sewing machine tomorrow.

I think this outfit makes you look incredibly sleek and tall, chic and pulled together. But I know what you mean - sometimes I only see what I don't have and what I wish I could wear, and when those mornings coincide with no milk (or worse - no coffee!) it just doesn't feel right no matter what. I hope your day turns around, but I think you look great!

I think the outfit looks great, even though it may not be what you pictured in your mind. Knowing what pieces you are "missing" in your wardrobe is good for future shopping expeditions. Sometimes I think I need to treat clothes shopping a bit more like food shopping (I am not great in the kitchen so I always go the the supermarket armed with a list).

We all feel that way sometimes hon. I think it helps us figure out what we want and/or need in our closets and what we don't. Also, even though you may not like the way the outfit came together, remember that we are ALWAYS way more critical of ourselves than the rest of the world. You look cute.

I actually like this look! I probably would've changed the shoes to something black because all I have and know are black shoes... lol We all have those days!! At least your readers like it right?? ;) And TGI the weekend!!!

You reference of "Ode to a Grecian Urn" made me remember a student I had who was trying to recite Poe's "To Helen." Here's what he gave me:

"Helen, thy beauty is to me,
Like those Nicean barks of yore.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
On Earth as it is in Heaven."

Not quite right, but the meter fit...

For what it's worth, I think this outfit is actually pretty cute!

I like this. Camel boots could've helped, but overall, I think you did a really good job. I like the contrast of the camel belt and the simple, chicness of all black with the white oxford collar.

For an 'off' day, this is pretty, darn good. :)

I actually really like this outfit and think that a black belt would have just blended in.

I have those days too, but for what it's worth, I think this looks nice! I certainly don't think it's off at all.

I'm not sure if "Ode on a Grecian Urn" would float my boat (prob go way over my head), but I hope it helps turn your day around :)

I think it's great that you dutifully post your outfits - it's nice to know we all have our off days. It still looks good, but I do like the idea of the camel coloured boots.

I think it works... I love the little cuffs peeking out haha :)
But i know what you mean.. but whats harder is imagining the perfect top or dress and planning an outfit around it..and then not being able to find out thats even similar ANY where. Woe is me,etc etc

I like this outfit -- I think it looks quite chic.
I'm glad that you post outfits you're only 'so-so' on -- it gives an accurate view of your style. We all have those days :)

I actually really like this outfit, and I think the tan belt pops perfectly. I do empathize though. I often have outfits that incorporate items that I just don't have, and when I try to substitute other things I"m a bit disappointed.

I definitely have days like that! However, I like the outfit! Its simple but I think you look chic and put together.

I like the way you dress, it always pretty. But I understand when you say it's not easy not to have the clothes you wanted to make the outfit works. =/ Oh boy! I do understand.
Have a great weekend Tania! Cya :)

What are you talking about?!? This outfit is so great! I love the brown belt with the black skirt and top, especially with the white collared shirt underneath.

Hope your day got better :)

I think this looks great. I understand the perils of dressing around a wardrobe one does not actually have, but I think this outfit works better than you think.

ahh i have tons of mornings like that where nothing feels quite right and everything's seemingly out of place. you look lovely though and i like the bottom half just as much as the top half! :)

I love the way you tied the shirt to make it more fitted - so clever and something I would never even think of. You look great!
