gray pattern tee: uo (on mega-sale three years ago!)
scarf: target
belt: mommed
brown tights: ann taylor loft
boots: indigo
Many of you suggested pairing it with gray (my favorite neutral!). A patterned gray makes the pairing a bit more exciting and a cozy scarf keeps light layers warm.

blue and white striped top: forever 21
sweater: uo
belt: thrifted
navy tights: ann taylor loft
oxfords: steve madden
Or you could pair it with navy blue tights and a navy-and-white striped shirt (yes, it's striped! click on the image to see it larger). A bright blue sweater belted over the skirt lends some cheerful contrast.

patterned blouse: anthro
teal sweater: banana republic
belt: anthro
navy tights: ann taylor loft
If you want to be exciting, you could pair it with a top with a bold pattern and a teal sweater (a gorgeous complementary color!). Navy tights and brown boots don't distract from the top's pattern.

gray grandpa sweater: uo
white top: target
flats: palladium
The color that the majority of you said you would pair with this skirt? White! This is probably my favorite combination (and alas, it is the most vanilla). I could even see teaching in this sweetly-embellished button-up and grandpa cardigan.
Which would you be most likely to wear? Is the teal-orange combo too much (it's pretty bold but I kind of love it!).

I'm a bike-riding bookworm in DC trying to make better use of a sometimes-vanilla closet. You can read a little more about this blog

Love all of them! The white is very cute, and I love the blue and teal! I guess my least favorite is the first combination with the gray shirt, but I still like it and would wear it.

You just made me want to pull out my red skirt like this one and try all these wonderful combinations! Love this "lesson plan"! Thank you! :)
Much love,

Wow, they do all work really well (even the teal!). I think my favorite is the first pic - with the scarf and gray socks.
I have a lilac silk skirt that I can never find something else to wear with it - I wonder if I could apply some of the ideas above ...

I love all but the first one. My favorite is definitely the blue followed by the teal. The white and grey look is fantastic, too, and seems very you.
Not at all - the teal and floral combo is my absolute fave! Although they ALL turned out beautifully.
My favorites are #s 2 and 4. #3 is cute too. You could probably wear either 2 or 4 for teaching.
Great combinations! My favourite looks are the last 2.
My favorite is definitely the patterned shirt with the teal cardigan, too cute!
LOVE this
Wow! They all look great! I'm partial to the teal and white, but I am incredibly impressed by the ingenuity in each outfit.
Oh I like each & every picture of your pairing with the skirt. I love red but I usually stick to the black & red combo. I'm glad to see it can be versatile!!
Good luck with teaching this week!!
Ooh love all of them--the last two are my favorite! The last one is probaby what I'd be most likely to wear...love the double-buckle belt with the cardigan (and those earrings!).
The last two are my favorite! This was such a fun post. Do more do more!!!! :)

T. I really loved them all. But my favorite are the first and the last. :)
Big kiss :*
I love these! I love how you wore those comfy looking knee socks with tights and boots, I really like that look. And the teal cardi from banana is SO wonderful. What a pop of color!
I like all of them, but the floral shirt combo is probably my favorite followed by the blue sweater. Also, your hair looks adorable!
What a fun post! This reminds me of the remix posts that Rebecca the Clothes Horse does, making a good four outfits out of one garment!
I especially like the last two. Bold and classic!

I have the same skirt in the same colour...and also have issues with trying to find a top to wear with it. Awesome post. Thank you so much. xx:)
Such beautiful outfit ideas! I just came across this blog yesterday and it's already one of my favourites. I particularly love the fourth outfit!
they all look wonderful!! the second and last are my favorites! the anthro blouse is amazing though with all the colors!!
I love that skirt! It's super adorable and you paired it well for winter!
I like the last one the best but I think you did a great job with all of them. Certainly all good ways to mix it up with the skirt and get more use out of than you would think!
Personally, I like the last two outfits the best. Both totally different looks but equally cute :)
I love the last two looks! I would probably wear the last look because I'm still a little scared of patterns. Before last year I never even looked at patterns and prints when I went shopping. Awesome job on your lesson plan. :)
Great lesson!
I would wear all of them, but I do think the teal and orange is my favorite.
I love the version with the printed top (bold but so pretty!) and the last one with the white and grandpa cardigan. I would definitely wear something like that to teach in (though I teach high school so asserting authority with my clothing isn't as difficult).
Awesome lesson! :)
I definitely like the last one the best. I like the second one too.
I have a red skirt that I never know what to wear with. I always stuck with black or white before but now I'll have to try some new combos!
I have this skirt in basic black - the pockets often give me trouble so I sometimes wear it inside out with the tags tucked in. Love this lesson plan - it's such a comfy piece.
My favorite looks are the last 2. I love that the skirt pulls a color from the floral top- divine. And I love that the skirt pops so much in the last look.
All very cute. For some reason I'd never think of white. I think the 2nd and last are my favorites.
i love when you paired it with that patterned anthro blouse!
i had to give this exact skirt to my sister because it looked so unflattering on me ... though i feel this way about most of my skirts! i have awkward hips i think ... anyway, enough of my rambling, i'm super bummed i gave it away now because i would have used your post as inspiration!
You are SO cute! Oh my oh my! And your hair is just lovely.
Love your skirt remixing! The third version is my favourite because the blues and reds really mix well together. In fact I'd probably wear blue leggings with your skirt XDD
They are all wonderful!! My favorite is the last one though, such a pretty color palette!

My favorite is the grey and red combo at the end. I might have to steal this outfit one day! It's fantastic!
What a great and inspiring post! I have a difficult skirt (it's a floral print, with all the colors in various shades of neon) that I've been staring at for several months. In addition to being very colorful, it's also flouncy and short, making me fear for my modesty. But I got some great ideas for taming the (sartorial) beast from your post! My favorite combo is the one with the Anthro patterned blouse -- you look so chic!
the renegade bean
what a cute skirt :) the first look is probably my favorite :)
xx Christine
I love that skirt, and I think you did a great job finding different ways to style it.
The first look is my favourite!
And I'm loving your "lesson plans". Very cool.
I love that you "mommed" the belt!
Elaine Michelle
your last combination with this skirt is definitely one of my favorites. I like dressing toward the more neutral color spectrum :)
