Like everyone else, I am having a major lack of style creativity this winter, not only because it is harder to look chic when it's cold, but also because it is less fun to take photos when it's ten degrees, and it's a little less fun to dress up in the doldrums of winter when you are running errands in the slush.
Thank goodness for all your sweet words yesterday when I was in a major wearing-this-dress-out-of-guilt funk. I am sending that piece to Goodwill, where I hope some 5-foot size 4 gal picks it up and falls in love. Today I am feeling much better! Busy running a million errands before school begins Tuesday, I wanted something warm, comfortable, and functional (comfort is key because I need to plant myself on the floor and sort through a huge stack of files this afternoon).

I heart these corduroys and they were the perfect antidote to yesterday's outfit--warm, cozy, well-fitting, and even though they are a little first-grader, they make me feel chic. I love the way they look tucked into duck boots (as always, tres j. crew) and these boots are keeping me safe from all the snow and slush I'm running through today.
Tomorrow, I'll show you how I "accessorize" this giant winter sack I wear, as per reader request. You won't believe how chic I can make a sleeping bag look...

I'm a bike-riding bookworm in DC trying to make better use of a sometimes-vanilla closet. You can read a little more about this blog

I was in "our" town yesterday, so I can authoritatively say that this looks like the perfect outfit for the weather. :) I love that you have very chic layers coupled with warmth! And ohhhhh the semester starting Tuesday...
I love the duck boots! I'm anxiously awaiting mine to arrive in the post. Cords are amazing in the winter. I love my skinny cut cords.
I'm actually having the opposite of the winter dressing blues. I just started getting into remixing stuff instead of just wearing the same outfits over and over, so I'm always excited to try new things.
Those corduroys are great.
Ummm...yeah, I'm totally jealous of your coat!!! I love the color of the cords and how you wore your duck boots. You are the QUEEN of making duck boots chic. the QUEEN.

I just adore that cozy white scarf, lady, and it's gorgeous with those bluish grays.
The thing with the corduroys is that they're a pastel in winter. That automatically makes them push some sort of style boundary IMHO, so yes: chic indeed!
Plus, don't you love the pair of pants that will get you through filing on the floor? Come on, especially in a business environment, those babies are one in a million.
i love this black, white, and gray outfit of yours! you look so warm in all those layers! :)
*bows ceremoniously to hail the duck boots! Love those cords too.
Love this outfit, esp the duck boot and cords! Oh, and cords are first-grader-ish? If it helps, I pretty much lived preK through 3rd grade in plaid skirts, plaid jumpers, and white blouses. Yay private school! - J.
glad to hear you've made a healthy purge! maybe i should go through my closet and do the same.
It's really hard to get out of the winter funk; I mainly take my outfit photos indoors just because I'm a wimp.
But I'd love to see more bright colors on you! That is, if you'd go for it. :)

duck boots are so amazing - how could anyone get sick of posts like that?
I am bummed that I didn't jump on getting that cute JCrew puffy coat in the pea yellow color. It's so adorable!
I'm in a winter rut, too. The cold, snowy weather makes me want to throw on boots that will keep my feet dry as opposed to looking cute, and pants that are already salt-stained and big so that I can fit leggings underneath. Result: marshmallow!
I recently moved and arranged my closet by color. It helps to put stuff together, and also made me realize a few things about my wardrobe: (1) almost everything I own has a crew neck or a collar! (How boring!) (2) half of my wardrobe is either black or pink. I can't wait til spring!!!!
cords really are the perfect solution for cold weather! i only own one pair but if i lived in a colder climate i guarantee i would own at least fifteen million. plus one more, just in case.
you cold climate ladies are tough!
Ooh, I'm loving all the grey, it's my favorite color!
And I just read about your cord dress, haha I've definitely been there! But with this cute ensemble, it's all in the past :]
