Oh goody, I love this dress! I knew I wanted to layer it over things, especially button-ups, and this plaid one I thrifted recently fit the bill perfectly. Even though it's a little big (and I'm considering taking the sleeves in), the fabric is thin enough not to feel bulky under the dress. Once I return to colder climes, I will definitely do light layers under the dress to stay warm while I bicycle around in the snow and sip tea on the couch.
As for the brown and black--a combination I know makes some people nervous--I say embrace it. I think the two look smashing together.
